What modern slavery means
“Modern slavery” covers slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded and child labour, and human trafficking. Human trafficking is where a person arranges or facilitates the travel ofanother person with a view to that person being exploited. Modern slavery is a crime and aviolation of fundamental human rights.
Our commitments
• We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in our organisation and our supplychains.
• Everyone working for us or on our behalf is responsible for preventing, detecting, and reporting modern slavery. No one should engage in, facilitate, or fail to report any activity that mightbreach this policy.
• We recruit and employ people lawfully and fairly. We verify the right to work of everyone we employ, pay at least the National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage, and never withhold wages or identity documents.
• We take a risk-based approach to selecting and managing our suppliers, and we keep it under review. Where the risk warrants it, we will ask suppliers to confirm that they do not use modern slavery or trafficked labour, and that they hold their own suppliers to the same standard.
• We encourage anyone with concerns - whether staff, suppliers, or others - to raise them with us. We take such reports seriously and treat them confidentially.
• If we find that anyone working for us or on our behalf has breached this policy, we will take appropriate action. Depending on the circumstances, that may range from working with themto put matters right, through to ending the relationship.
